Operation SERVAL, Mali 2013 - Special Forces helicopter raid on Kidal
On the night of January 29 to 30, 2013, the French commandos seized the airport of the last major Malian city that still escaped the control of the Franco-Malian coalition. The Chadian national armed forces (1,800 men) continue their offensive reconnaissance towards the north to make the connection with the French elements on Kidal.
