1976: Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, last French president to visit Iran

04.10.1976: Mr. and Mrs. Giscard d'Estaing arrived in Concorde accompanied by their two daughters, had been warmly received by the chahinchah of Iran and the chabanou, the Empress Farah Diba. During the official dinner at Niyaravan Palace, VGE declared: “Iran's success which is being achieved here has a significance which goes far beyond the bilateral framework. Its success makes Iran a factor of stability and balance in an area of strategic importance for world peace. ” During these four days, the talks were devoted to relations between Iran and the EEC, Lebanon, and Franco-Iranian trade.
