Main events of the plenary session of 14-17.02.2022 in Strasbourg: 

Russia’s military threat against Ukraine. MEPs and Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell will debate European security, Russia’s threat to Ukraine and the latest diplomatic attempts to de-escalate the situation. They will also discuss two reports on how to strengthen the EU as a global foreign policy and security actor, and are set tto approve €1.2 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine. Rule of Law
. MEPs will debate with Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn on Wednesday afternoon the EU Court’s decision -expected that same day in the morning- on the requests filed by Hungary and Poland to annul the regulation that links disbursement of EU funds with respect for the rule of law. A press conference by lead MEPs is scheduled for 11.30.


Beating cancer. 
Parliament will debate and vote on measures and actions to fight cancer in the EU. Key recommendations by the Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA) include facilitating access to cross-border health care and clinical trials, managing shortages of cancer medicines more efficiently, and ensuring equal access to innovative drugs and treatments. (debate Tuesday, vote Wednesday)


20 years of the Euro/Debate with ECB President Lagarde
.The session will start with a ceremony to celebrate 20 years of the Euro, after which MEPs will debate with European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde the work of the ECB in 2021 and the state of the EU economy (debate Monday, vote Tuesday)

Evénements principaux de la session plénière du 14-17.02.2022 à Strasbourg :

Menace militaire russe contre l’Ukraine. Les députés débattront avec le Chef de la politique étrangère de l’UE, Josep Borrell, de la sécurité européenne, de la menace russe en Ukraine et des dernières tentatives diplomatiques visant à désamorcer la crise. Ils discuteront également de deux rapports sur la manière de renforcer l’UE comme acteur mondial de la politique étrangère et de sécurité, et devraient approuver une aide financière de 1,2 milliard d’euros à l’Ukraine. (Lundi, mardi et mercredi)


État de droit.
Les députés débattront mercredi après-midi avec le commissaire en charge du budget, Johannes Hahn, de la décision de la Cour de justice de l’UE (attendue un peu plus tôt le même jour) sur la demande déposée par la Hongrie et la Pologne visant à annuler le règlement liant le versement des fonds européens au respect de l’État de droit. Une conférence de presse avec les députés en charge du dossier est prévue à 11h30.


Lutte contre le cancer.
Le Parlement débattra et se prononcera sur les mesures et actions à prendre pour lutter contre le cancer dans l’UE. Les recommandations clés de la commission spéciale sur la lutte contre le cancer (BECA) incluent un accès facilité aux soins de santé transfrontaliers et aux essais cliniques, l’optimisation de la gestion des pénuries de médicaments contre le cancer, et la garantie d’un accès équitable aux médicaments et traitements innovants. 20 ans de l’euro/Débat avec la Présidente de la BCE.
La session s’ouvrira par une cérémonie commémorant les 20 ans de l’euro, suivie d’un débat avec la Présidente de la Banque centrale européenne, Christine Lagarde, sur les activités de la BCE en 2021 et l’état de l’économie européenne. (Débat lundi, vote mardi)
