The Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles

The Royal Wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles took place in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall, April 9, 2005.

Initially scheduled for April 8, 2005, the ceremony was postponed for twenty-four hours at the last minute so as not to coincide with the funeral of Pope John Paul II, who died a few days earlier.

The ceremony, which was attended by the couple's families, was followed by a Church of England prayer and dedication service at St. George's Chapel, which included an act of penance. The groom's parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, did not attend the civil wedding ceremony, but were present at the prayer and dedication service and hosted a reception for the couple at the Windsor Castle afterwards.

The marriage formalized the relationship between Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla Parker Bowles, who assumed the title of Duchess of Cornwall.
