80th anniversary of the Normandy landings
The international ceremony, the highlight of the day, took place at Omaha Beach in the presence of 25 heads of state and government, and 250 veterans.
Thursday June 6, 2024, at Omaha Beach in Calvados, the Allies met, without Russia but alongside the Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky, to celebrate the victory over Nazism, while war is raging again in Europe.
Ukraine, guest of honor of France
American President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron took advantage of the D-Day commemorations in Normandy to show their support for Volodymyr Zelensky in the face of the Russian offensive. The international ceremony bringing together all the Allies ended with a tribute to the “bravery” of the Ukrainians.
