André Malraux (1901-1976), writer, politician, French resistance fighter, Companion of the Liberation

A member of the French Resistance, he was taken prisoner by the Germans. In 1944, he commanded the Alsace-Lorraine Brigade, actively participating in the operation supporting General de Lattre's liberation of Strasbourg.

A philatelic envelope, designed by Historiaphil© (Philately Kiosk of the European Parliament, Strasbourg, France) commemorates the highlights of the Strasbourg plenary session of the European Parliament. It was produced as a continuation of the collection of philatelic envelopes bearing witness since 1949 to the history of Europe and its institutions. Its edition is limited and numbered.
