1st Flight of the First Airbus A380-800 to enter commercial service worldwide (Singapore Airlines)

Toulouse (France) May 7, 2006: The first production Airbus A380-800 (MSN 003), intended for Singapore Airlines, made its maiden flight today. The aircraft completed a series of tests including autopilot testing, fuel system testing and a maximum landing braking test.

Bearing the serial number MSN 003 and the provisional registration F-WWSA, its fin is painted in the colors of Singapore Airlines. In the afternoon it then reached Finkenwerden airport in Hamburg (Germany) where it will receive its commercial cabin and will be painted before returning to Toulouse to carry out its flight tests.

A series of personalized postage stamps and aerophilatelic covers immortalize this milestone in the history of the European A380 Jumbo.
