Emission of a Postage stamp Canada for the last stopover of Joan in Quebec
Quebec on 12 April 2010: The helicopter carrier Joan of Arc and the frigate Courbet arrived in Quebec with on board the Application School Group of the Officers from the French Navy, for their farewell tour. The student-officers did a stopover in Quebec until the 19th of May and opened the hatches of Joan of Arc to the population the next Saturday in the morning and in the afternoon. The skipper, Patrick Augier, participated to a ceremony that remembered the transit of Jacques Cartier on 24 July 1534 in the same place, where he jabbed a 30 foots cross to take possession of these lands on behalf of the king of France.
Picture Postage
For this final visit, the philatelists could acquire a beautiful "Picture Postage" (postage stamp personalized by the Canadian postoffices) representing a sketch of the carrier helicopter Joan of Arc, drawn by Jean-Luc Staedel (www.HISTORIAPHIL.com) and issued in limited drawing.
