Delivery and Conveying Flight of the 1st Air France A380 F-HPJA (F-WWSB) Hamburg XFW - Paris CDG 30.10.2009

Air France took delivery of its first A380 on Friday, October 30, during a ceremony at the Airbus site in Hamburg, becoming the first European company to own the giant aircraft. The A380 constitutes "an excellent response to the economic crisis which continues to have its effects on our activity in an impressive way", declared Air France Managing Director Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, who hopes to achieve 15 million euros in savings per year for each A380 in service. According to him, this plane "arrives at the right time" and constitutes for the company a "strategic asset to pass the crisis and to cushion the effects".

The aircraft then took off from Hamburg for a conveying flight to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle where the Super Jumbo was "baptized", as it should be, by the fire hoses of the airport fire brigade.
