The Spaak Report
Presided over by Paul-Henri Spaak, Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the intergovernmental committee created by the Messina Conference (Italy, 1-3 June 1955) held its constitutive meeting on 9 July 1955 at the headquarters of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels (Belgium). This working group, composed of delegates from the six governments, was responsible for drawing up a report outlining the broad outlines of a future European Economic Community (EEC) and a European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC).
A philatelic envelope, designed by Historiaphil© (Philately Kiosk of the European Parliament, Strasbourg, France) commemorates the highlights of the Strasbourg plenary session of the European Parliament. It was produced as a continuation of the collection of philatelic envelopes bearing witness since 1949 to the history of Europe and its institutions. Its edition is limited to 270 numbered copies.
