Jean Monnet (1888-1979), a high-ranking civil servant, champion of Atlanticism and free trade, and considered one of the "Fathers of Europe."
A staunch Europhile, he was a key figure in European integration and construction, and is regarded as one of the "Founding Fathers of Europe."
A philatelic envelope, designed by Historiaphil© (Philately Kiosk of the European Parliament, Strasbourg, France) commemorates the highlights of the Strasbourg plenary session of the European Parliament. It was produced as a continuation of the collection of philatelic envelopes bearing witness since 1949 to the history of Europe and its institutions. Its edition is limited and numbered.
