"Philately at the service of Europe"
The steps taken by General de Gaulle and Chancellor Adenauer to bring the French and German peoples closer together and lead to the signing of the "Franco-German Cooperation Treaty" were supported by numerous pro-European cultural initiatives.
This is how the "LIPHI" philatelic association of the French Forces in Germany (FFA) set up a program of Franco-German philatelic exhibitions on the theme of "philately in the service of Europe" in 1961. These exhibitions took place in garrison cities such as Berlin (Napoleon Quarter), Baden-Baden (General Headquarters), Rastatt, etc.
Each exhibition resulted in the publication of a Franco-German triptych of three se-tenant cards, postmarked with a French “poste aux armées” stamp and a German illustrated stamp, as well as the printing of a block of labels (cinderellas).
