CENTENARY OF WAR 14-18 AND CENTENARY OF FRANCE-POLAND DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS 1919-2019

The autonomous Polish "blue army" was created in June 1917 on the Western Front

Commanded by General Jozef Haller, fully equipped by France, it is nicknamed "the blue army", because of the horizon blue uniform of its soldiers. With 70,000 men, 18 planes and 120 Renault tanks, it formed the hard core of the forces of the Polish state which was resuscitated on November 11, 1918.

She returned to the country in the spring of 1919, accompanied by a French military mission responsible for training and equipping the new Polish army. Among the French instructors who created no less than sixteen schools of officers, the young Captain Charles de Gaulle.

Confronted with the offensive of the Red Army in 1920, the Polish army received material support from France, thus renewing the motto which was that of the Polish volunteers within the French army, “For our freedom and for the your". A story of friendship and solidarity born in pain of a common struggle. (source: Philinfo April 2019)
