Tribute to the Fusiliers-Marins of the RBFM 1944
The Armored Regiment of Fusiliers-Marins (RBFM) had participated in the liberation of Strasbourg on November 23, 1944. Created in Morocco in September 1943, it was integrated into the 2nd Armored Division in April 1944. Its actions contributed to the liberation of Paris in August 1944, then to that of the plains of Lorraine and Alsace and finally Strasbourg. Engaged in Germany, then in Indochina, it was dissolved in 1947.
As part of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Landings, the Liberation of France and the Victory, a commemorative ceremony of the Liberation of Strasbourg took place, in the presence of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Strasbourg. A tribute was paid to the soldiers of the 2nd Armored Division of General Leclerc, who honoring the "Oath of Koufra", had liberated Strasbourg on November 23, 1944.
